Help with making/burning dvd movies…?

Hi, I would like to say thanks in advance for answering my question.

I would like to burn a few movies, but I don’t know how to go about doing this. I bought some blank dvd-r, but I don’t know if I will be able to use these. Can anyone tell me which type I am supposed to use? Also, I need to be able to convert the video format (.avi) into the acceptable dvd formate for my dvd player. Does anyone know what free converters that I can use?

If anyone has any experience with burning and or making dvd movies…please help!!!!
Thank you

All type of standard writable dvd disc are right, such as DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD+DL, etc. But you should note, if want to play the burned dvd on DVD player, it’s the most important that you need to use a right dvd burning software to burn a standard video DVD from your movies, because most DVD players only recognize standard video DVD well, but I don’t think there is a free software can do that well, I had tried many free softwares before, none of them work well, some poor quality, some even viruses, so if you will, you can follow me to use an inexpensive software RZ DVD Creator, it can convert any movies to standard video DVD and burn to any dvd disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), easy to use, insert your blank dvd-r disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop your movies into the software, then press the START button, you will get a good standard video DVD, and you can play the burned standard video DVD well on your DVD player. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, hope it can help you.
