At that time he decided to run a “Marathon of Hope” across Canada to raise the money for cancer research, but after running for 143 days, Terry’s doctor told him, his cancer was back and had spread to his lungs.

Terry died before he was able to complete the marathon, however, he was able to hoist $23 million aid for research on cancer in the country. The new research center on cancer in the region of British Columbia was initiated with this aid. From that day to till date, every year on his death anniversary communities and different schools run their own “Terry Fox Run” and raise money for cancer research donation.
