What do you believe in happens after death?
What do you believe happens after death. I know what my opinion is and what happens, what do you think, or know?
I have faith in what the Bible says. The dead do not go anywhere. People do not posess a soul or spirit. No part of a person exists after death. They become unconscious. Jesus refers to the dead as “sleeping”
Genesis 1:20 “And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living souls, and let fowl fly above the earth in the expanse of the heavens.” (DARBY)
Genesis 2:7 “And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (ASV)
Ezekiel 18:4 “For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son—both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.” (NIV)
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (NASB)
Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20 “For an event [is to] the sons of man, and an event [is to] the beasts, even one event [is] to them; as the death of this, so [is] the death of that; and one spirit [is] to all, and the advantage of man above the beast is nothing, for the whole [is] vanity. The whole are going unto one place, the whole have been from the dust, and the whole are turning back unto the dust.” (YLT)
Genesis 3:19 “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” (NIV)
Psalm 146:4 “His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.” (NASB)
Ecclesiastes 9:5 “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten.” (NIV)
Anyone who thinks they go somewhere after they die does not know the Scriptures. They are deceived by the traditions of man that have been adopted from paganism. Christians who know the Bible know that the dead are awaiting the resurrection on the last day as Jesus taught us.
John 6:40 “For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (ASV)
John 5:28, 29 “Wonder not at this, because there doth come an hour in which all those in the tombs shall hear his voice, and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again of life, and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of judgment.” (YLT)
