The big theatre show that has to be mentioned is Phantom of the Opera, one of the most unbelievable musical shows to ever be launched. The theatre show was adapted for the stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber and details the tale of a scarred French Chap who falls in deep love with a chorus singer. The fabulous songs of the theatre production are now famous and the mask worn by the Phantom is so unmistakable that it’s visible in many fancy dress parties around the world.

Up next is the tremendous musical known as Cats. Again another well known theatre show and one that ran just about 18 years until its last curtain call in late 2000. Cats won both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony award for finest musical production and was performed in both London’s West End and world famous Broadway New York. The theatre musical was so popular that it was translated into 19 separate languages and eventually shown all over the world. Cats the theatre show was a true phenomenon.

Now it’s time for the most recognized play with a French title of all time, Les Miserables or translated into English as The Miserables. The theatre production has been going in London’s glittering West End for more than 21 years now and is the 2nd longest running theatre production in London’s history. One of the most celebrated songs from the theatre musical is I Dreamed a Dream, which was also sung by television talent show runner up Susan Boyle. The musical show was nominated for twelve Tony awards and won eight of them, including finest actor.
