What is the basic instinct of Human nature? Selfishness ego or Love? Is hatred a part of civilisation?

The basic instinct of Human nature is selfishness. Selfishness is behind love, hatred, fear, etc.

One wants to find something to love because one wants to feel loved, to feel he/she has a purpose, companionship etc. When one does love something/someone he/she becomes attached to it, often wanting it to please him/her. Very few can love without anything in return.

Hatred is usually fueled by fear which is fueled by the selfish want to protect one’s self.

Hatred is not necessarily always a part of civilization (though it more often than not is.) However, fear/selfishness are part of civilization.
