Firstly, if your in America on a surfing holiday your first stop should really be Cocoa Beach in Florida. You have to time you visit correctly, but if you do you can enjoy some spectacular surf. Go in summer and your surf trip might end up being a wash out, with you spending more time paddling about than you do riding. Pay a visit in winter however and it will be whole different ball game. You can get swells of around 10ft in winter and the sets are a whole lot more reliable this time of year. The beach and waves are pretty safe making it great for beginners and the party atmosphere here is perfect for chilling out and enjoying yourself. For the top conditions, pay a visit between November and March

Secondly, why not head to the birth place of the great sport. There is a reason why Hawaii is synonymous with surfing – it provides many of the best surfing locations on the planet and some of the biggest waves ever have been recorded here.  It’s so steeped in surfing history that you would not be blamed for grabbing some wetsuits and spending your whole time in the water, however also visiting historic sites, talking to locals about surfboards, or checking out the thousands of surfboards on sale is also recommended. Well, maybe not the whole of your time, you must save a little for the 20ft monsters at Oahu and the sheer beauty of the beaches and surf and Waimea and Ehukai. Pure Heaven
