Why did people like the Pink Panther movies of the 1960′s?

To me they were boring, predictable, slapstick and not very funny. I also thought they were a waste of both Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers’s talents. I loved the theme music by Henry Mancini but that is there it stopped. Why are they so popular and why did they make a movie about them a few years ago? I just don’t get it.

I agree 100% with you!!! I HATED THOSE MOVIES!!! except for the badass music.
