Top Five Thrillers: 2010
Kick-Ass
Kick-Ass follows an ordinary teenager (played by Aaron Johnson) whose obsession with comic books turns dangerous when he decides to become a real life superhero and adopts the name ‘Kick-Ass.’ The R-rated film, which also made my Top 10 Comedies of 2010 list, puts major studio huge-budgeted action movies to shame, with director Matthew Vaughn delivering stunning fight sequences and big action set pieces on a relatively low-budget. This R rated film includes graphic actions in the right proportion. The usage of a 11 year old girl in the action scenes by Chloe Moretz has brought another dimension to the film, the fact that the film is a fiction does not feel necessarily to the viewer.
Inception
Yet another classic from the master Christopher Nolan . And this is coming from a person unafraid of admitting I’m not 100% sure what the ending means. The fact I’m still trying to figure out all the intricacies of this film five months after its release speaks volumes for the storytelling skills of the multi-talented Nolan.
The unusual plot combined with variety in stunts, visuals and casting has delivered a typical hit film. Inception has generated another thinking experience in film making
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
We greeted the news of the arrival of the first part of the last chapter in the Harry Potter saga with mixed emotions. This seems to be the end of the best selling Harry Potter series from J.K. Rowling’s . But after watching part 1 we can expect Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Part 1 set up the finale perfectly, and showed our three favorite kid wizards – Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint) – are nearly adults now and have left the comforts of Hogwarts behind. It’s been interesting watching the talented threesome grow up in front of our eyes, and seeing them take their last turns as Harry Potter characters is going to be bittersweet.
Red
Red stands for ‘Retired Extremely Dangerous’ and features an interesting ensemble of actors, including some not known for tackling action roles. Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren suits well in the actions packed film handling huge armours.
Iron Man II
The old Hollywood bad boys Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr gets back in combat in under the direction of Jon Favreau. This film also is expected to make the same kind of collection as the previous one. It was never expected that a good return was possible for Jon Favreau. Jon Favreau make a strong come back in the Iron Man 2 with the rigt mix of action.
