DVD Burning Equipment Types

There are two kinds of DVD burners available on the market today.  Burners can be internal or external.  Many newer computers will have an internal DVD burner already built in; if not, then installing an internal burner requires opening the case.  You can
connect the external burner to your PC or laptop by using a USB connector.  An external burner usually costs more than an internal one.

The burners are an easy way to create a back up, copying and sharing your recorded home movies.  Dual layer DVD burners can be purchased and have greater ability to read or write than single DVD burners.  DVD burners are a special kind of DVD drive that can use a laser to record data to DVDs.

You can find a number of format types for blank DVDs.  The formats include: DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and CD.  DVD burning devices resemble CD burners, but they are capable of burning three separate formats – DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW.  With so many different options and acronyms, it can be confusing to figure out what you should buy.  It is all based on what you are interested in doing with the device.  DVD burners are now extremely popular, and they are available at much lower prices due to the huge growth in the area of computer technology and the increasing popularity and usage of the Internet.

First you should be certain that you have the proper installation of software in order to burn DVDs.  Unless this installation has been done, it won’t be possible to burn material to
DVD.  Software packages are included with the majority of burners on the market.  A DVD software package will typically contain a program to burn DVDs, a program to edit videos and an authoring program for DVDs and VCDs.  The Internet also has free software which you can download.  The largest concern with this method is safety; it’s safer to pay for software.  You should ensure that your computer is equipped with something that will protect you from bad downloads.

You need to avoid downloading any type of adware.  This can potentially infect your computer with a harmful virus that might even stop you from being able to use your DVD burner at all.  There are many award winning softwares that are virus free – 1 click dvd copy pro is our favorite.  Once you get through the initial learning curve, you will get a lot of enjoyable use out of your DVD burner.
