What I’d really like to do is just sit her down in front of Casablanca, but instead, she’s asked me to compile a kind of ‘best moments’ thing to show her to see what she thinks – so I want to know which moments people would recommend.

Obviously they have to be great moments, but they also have to be ‘stand-alone’ – a great moment that relies on you having watched the film for an hour is no use.

Just to give you an idea, I’m definitely showing the ‘If you need anything, just whistle’ kiss from To Have and Have Not – something you can understand without having to watch the whole film.

I have 24 of his films on DVD, including all the most famous, so you make suggestions from almost all his best work. Just avoid ‘The Return of Dr X’ and we should be ok…
