Can I Change My MOS While In The Army DEP?
Alright well im currently a 89D explosive ordance disposal..and i scheduled for basic training on FEB 22nd…im wondering if I can change my mos before i leave…the mos’s im really interested in order are UAV Operator, Combat Medic, Cav Scout, or Infantry please let me know and also is UAV operator a rare mos?? thanks again

Yes you can change your MOS. However, do not wait until the last minute. They will not change it within the 30 days before your training date. Also, keep in mind that you may or may not qualify for those other jobs or they may or may not be available. You could also lose any incentives you got in your enlistment agreement. Meaning if you got a bonus or extra college incentives for 89D you may not get them for another MOS. Now the UAV operator is not a rare MOS it is just a smaller MOS than others. We don’t need as many so the training seats are much less than other MOS in the Army. What I suggest is you go and speak with your Station Commander about your concerns now. He/She will discuss the pros and cons and if possible submit an USAREC form 1035 to change your MOS. But I would first ask you why you chose 89D if you didn’t want it? And if it was the only thing available then you probably will not get anything else. But you won’t know unless you talk to your Station commander!
