It is a classic story of cat and mouse. Tom wants to eat Jerry. That is the premise more or less of every episode you watch. No matter how hard the feisty Tom tries to get the more quick witted Jerry he always outwits him and gets away. But we watch every episode wondering if just this one time Tom might get lucky.

It is not for lack of trying on Tom’s part. He is always coming up with the most bizarre circumstances that he creates to win his mouse treat of his friend at the end. You have to appreciate his perseverence and fortitude as he develps plans to catch his little frienemy.

Jerry seems to be interestingly patient and enjoy out smarting the frisky feline in every episode. It seems that he enjoys being chased by Tom, knowing that the idiot cat will never catch him yet appreciates his fortitude as much as we do. But he is humble at the same time so we don’t want him to be eaten. It is a nice blend of the two personalities showing not everybody is good and not everybody is bed either.

Perhaps you are Jerry. You know there is someone out there trying to get you subconsciously and you are very keen of that and stay on your toes. But you also know there is nothing you can do about it so why be upset about it. You appreciate people for who they are and don’t try to change them.

It is this basic principal that makes Tom and Jerry fresh every time you watch it and creates new fans of the show. It may just be a cartoon to some but it is really a slice of life regarding human behavior. With the creation of the DVD you can get some more background information about the show, it’s creators and some of the voices you hear in the cartoon.

Like I said we all have a bit of both personalities in us. But if you are honest with yourself you relate better with your dominant side. So are you dominant Tom or dominant Jerry?
