Gossip Girl is an American TV drama which has been based on a series of popular books with the same name. Set in New York City the show looks at the lives of teenagers from a rich background living in the Upper East Side.

The Gossip Girl TV Series begins with the character Serena, played by Blake Lively, returning home from an undisclosed stay at a boarding school out of state. Serena is an old friend of the character Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, and arrives back in town as Blair’s perfect life is starting to fall apart. Everyone starts to realise that Blair isn’t leading the perfect life that everyone thought she was. Will the false facade reveal that the rich deal with the same problems that the poor do or possibly even have more problems to deal with.

Currently showing in its fourth season, has been running since 2007 and with a talented young cast which includes Blake Lively, star of the upcoming Green Lantern movie, Leighton Meester who has been in supporting roles in shows such as 24, Surface, House and Entourage. Joining these two talented actresses is Chace Crawford who has been credited with roles in Family Guy, Robot Chicken and The Covenant. Originally receiving mixed reviews due to it being an adaption of a New York Times bestselling novel, the show has since been listed as one of the most appreciated shows of 2007. During the four years that the show has been on the air it has received numerous awards like the Young Hollywood Award, Teen Choice Award and a nomination for the People’s Choice Award.

The Gossip Girl Series which is about the lives of young teenagers dealing with relationships among the upper classes provides a great reason to tune in each week to see what drama the characters will be facing next. The premier episode hit a high of 3.5 million viewers in the US and since then has gone on to create four season of riveting storyline. Even though there has been a slight decline in popularity this year there are still no indications that you won’t seeing a fifth season next year. If you are new to the show and wish to catch up then the first three seasons are easily available on DVD.
