Follow Up To The Randy Quaid Police Arrest Saga
Apparently, some people never learn. Last year, Randy Quaid and his wife Evi Quaid were arrested for not paying a hotel bill, and charged with defrauding an inn. The pair posted bail. Then they went home. This made lots of headlines, as a person who has worked in Hollywood so long could have very easily afforded a hotel bill. The couple was imprisoned in Texas, however the incident took place in California. The pair was imprisoned again lately, for living illegally in a property they formerly owned in Santa Barbara. Skipped on hotel bill
The first incident that got Quaid and Evi Quaid in legal hot water occurred last year. The initial police arrest for suspicion of defrauding an inn happened on Sept. 30 of 2009. After staying a night in a lodge, they deliberately or accidentally neglected to pay and were imprisoned in Texas. After posting bail, both missed a series of court dates. Evi Quaid was put on probation and had to do community service after they eventually resurfaced. According to CNN, the two also paid the hotel bill off, and it all seemed settled.
No such factor as squatters’ rights
Selling a house is something people typically remember doing. That would seem to be reasonable. That did not apply to Randy and Evi Quaid. The two were found to be living illegally in the guest house of a home they sold in Santa Barbara years ago. Apparently, the two were convinced they still owned the property, despite paperwork produced to the contrary. According to ABC, the cops were having none of it and imprisoned them for burglary. The home did used to belong to them, which is clear. Nevertheless, why they went to the guest house is sort of odd.
Reasoning appears thin
Randy Quaid is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid. Dennis has declined to comment on the incidents. Maybe there is something in the water, because Hollywood seems to make people absolutely crazy. Just take a look at other headlines. Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan also appear to be incapable of taking the hint of not breaking the law.
