Why does my husband after leading a double life want to keep in touch with me? ?

i left him.Our divorce is about to take place but he really does not know that i’ ve spoken to my lawyer yet.He has been sending mails saying that i am part of important people in his life as his parents and our 2 grownups children,He is living with his mistress.He has several times suggested an appointment but never come.I don´t really understand why he wants to keep in touch though.
