Back in its heyday, the Douglass Theater was the premiere movie theater and vaudeville hall for African-American citizens of Macon, Georgia. Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway made appearances at the Douglass Theater. Premier films are also a part of the theater’s repertoire. Idea #2:  RiverCenter for the Performing Arts Brings Broadway to Broadway in Columbus. The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts brings live Broadway shows, classical music and dance to life on Broadway in Columbus, Georgia. Legacy Hall and the smaller, Studio Theater, are also prime rehearsal and performance spaces for performing arts students from Columbus State University.
