How do I get rid of DVD picture Ghosts?
I bought a Wharfedale DVDRHD400 DVD Recorder some time ago from Argos. I took the first one we got back because of the amount of noise and interference in the output video.
The replacement is a bit better, but I still see ghost images over the video. It seems to be stuff from Channel 4. Text and strong shapes appear as relief shapes over the video.
It must be internal. If I play the recorded DVD in my other player the interference isn’t there. And if I play pre-recorded films in the recorder the ghosts show up.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of the picture ghosts? I don’t want to spend a fortune on this.

Your problem sounds more like what is know as “signal bleed” rather than a prblem with the recorder itself.
Most cables SCART and Co-axial are unshielded (they don’t have what appears to be thick silver foil between the outer sheathing and the inner wires).
Is your recorder connected to the tv with a SCART cable? If it is, change out the supplied cable with a shielded one. Also use shielded co-axial cable on the input side. Shielded cables are available from most electrical wholesalers and some online stores.
