Planet Earth DVD Question?
I want to buy the Planet Earth DVD set but there are so many versions that I don’t know which to pick. I want the narrator to be the women. I was also wondering if HD DVDs will play in a regular DVD player or do you need a HD DVD player? Is the women narrator the US version or the BBC version? Lastly, I’ve noticed different cases for the DVDs; one is the Earth with a black background, and the other is a grassy area with some sort of buffalo I believe. Is there any difference between those two?
Overall this would be idle but not sure if possible: Planet Earth complete DVD set, which is HD, with the women narrator.

I just found out that the US Version (Discovery version) is narrated by the women, Sigourney Weaver.
You mean the American version with Sigorney Weaver as the narrator? That is what’s on the US release (picture of Earth on a black background on cover; the other you mention is the original UK version with a male narrator). You need separate machines for Blu-Ray and the lamented HD-DVD formats as high definition format discs don’t work on regular DVD players* (though they will play on Windows Vista/7 PCs).
* You will also need a new HDTV…the HD formats don’t work on standard TVs.
