How do i re-install my DVD drive ( on a laptop ) ?

My DVD drive fell out of the laptop ( i don’t even know how it did, but it did ) and now the thing won’t play any dvd’s, it says it isn’t connected or that there is no dvd drive detected. So i was wondering if someone can help me out and tell me how to re-install it, or if i have to go to a computer technician ?

There should have been at least one screw holding it in. It must have came out. The lap top should recognize the drive as soon as you put it in. It doesn’t make sense to me that it doesn’t. My guess is if it took a hard fall it is probably broken. If you have a local person around that works on them they may have a drive that they can put in it to see if your drive is broken before you buy. The problem with cd/dvd drives is thst they are made for specific computers. You can’t just stick any one in and you want to make sure it is broken before you buy one. Ebay has a lot of them cheap BTW. Used and new. Make sure it clearly states for your laptop name and model number if you buy one.
