What are some great family vacation spots?

Me and my family are planning to go on a late vacation before the school year. We want somewhere close (tops 3 hours because we live in Illinois) and somewhere the family will love. Some where my parents can relax all day and somewhere me and my brother will have a blast. Any ideas?
