Do you have to play the first 4 Call of Duty games to be able follow along the fifth one?

I want to buy Call of duty 5 but I never the first 4. Is there like some storyline that is continued in each game?

They are not even close. COD4 is modern warfare and COD5 is about WWII so I’m pretty sure the story line is going to be just a little tiny bit different… lol
