Fuji Color
How do I tell when to take the picture on a Holga?

I’m using 120 format Fuji Colour Fujifilm in my Holga, but can’t figure out what indicates when the next frame is aligned with the shutter – is it the large dots, or the numbers that follow the large dots on the film? Some pictures on my previous film came out alright, but some didn’t, so that’s not really a reference.

The numbers indicate the frame number. The number should center in the counter window when you expose the frame. The dots are a sort of warning system that a frame number is coming up.

If you are shooting square format negatvies, the arrow on the counter window slider should be pointing at the 12. If you are using the tall vertical mask, the arrow on the counter window slider should point at the 16.
