How To Sell Scrap Metal To A Scrap yard For The Most Money
We can all agree that the last thing we need in life is another way to lose money. If you are busy replacing old appliances, remodeling a new home, or just cleaning out some old scrap metal, don’t you want to make some extra money doing it? What if I told you it could be as easy as bringing your junk to a scrap yard?
That’s right, all across America, people are hauling in their junk! From the basement to the attic, it’s getting pulled and hauled away for cash!
A scrap yard is a place where patrons sell scrap metal recyclables.
Scrap Metal Recycling
The trick to scrap metal recycling is simply knowing what something is worth! The value of scrpa meterials depends entirely on what your scrap yard is paying! If you keep tabs on meta prices in your area, you can often find yourself some pretty awesome deals!
For example; in my area, scrap metal (mixed metal) is worth roughly 12¢ per pound. My local thrift store had a sale on all of it’s cast iron sinks. “75% off all sinks” it said.
This was good news to a guy like me. Each one of these scrap sinks had a beat up brass faucet attached; They were almost all priced between $20-$40 regularly. The sale made them all between $5-$10.
Each sink weighed about 100 pounds, and therfore was worth $12 dollars, just for the steel. The Brass was worth ~ $1.70 per pound. Long story short, I left there with 12 sinks minus $60, and then left the scrap yard about an hour later with ~$250.
The only reason I knew this was a good deal was because I was paying attention to scrap metal prices.

If I told you that a broken computer was worth $15 dollars in scrap metal, would you kick yourself after thinking of all the computers you just threw in the trash? Maybe not, but at least you will think twice before doing it again!
