One More Hurdle To Sea The Turtle

Summer is a really magical occasion. I was lucky enough to live a few months in the Yucatan region this summer. It was truthfully a blessing to be there. I spent most of my time in a small beach town called Tulum. Tulum is situated in the Riviera Maya roughly 90 miles to the south of Cancun and about 40 miles from Playa Del Carmen. It is a fairly trouble-free drive if you rent a car and stay on interstate 307 the entirety of way. It’s also possible to ride on the bus for a very affordable price. A taxi ride would not even be too outrageous either, but by taking the bus or renting a car you’d unquestionably be saving cash. By far, my preferred thing about Tulum stands out as the nation. There are so many real people in Tulum, particularly the local Mayans and Mexicans who dwell there. Another majestic feature is the beaches. Tulum has a number of the most breathtaking seashores within the earth. You most likely did not know that some of the Corona commercials with the the guy and the girl sitting on the shore of the beach was filmed here. Yes, it really is as beautiful as it looks on TV and yes, you should come down for a vacation!

The very first beach I traveled to right away moved to the summit of my finest beach experiences list. I had never experienced anything like it, it was so immaculate and heavenly . My contacts who are actually residents down here call it Turtle beach, but the given name is Xcacel (esh-ca-sell). It is usually only a ten minute ride north of Tulum on highway three hundred and seven. Not surprisingly they call it turtle beach for the reason that when you visit in the dark within the early to mid summertime you will actually have the chance to observe real live sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand. It’s important to remain quiet and stand or sit at least 15 feet away from the turtle during the egg laying process because you may scare the turtle if you get any closer. In addition, since this happens at night, the ideal time is when the moon and stars are shining bright. Flashlights will scare the turtle so you must choose a night when the sky is bright so that you can see.

If all your lucky stars align, you may be in for an experience unlike any you’ll ever witness in nature. As luck had it, I was able to witness a live sea turtle laying eggs during my stay down here. I’ve had friends who have been living here for multiple years that still haven’t seen one. It was a moment unlike any other I’ve ever had. With the calm waves splashing in the background and the full moon it made for a very amazing moment.

During the day-time Turtle Beach is also an amazing place to visit. One of the first things you’ll notice about it is the small number of people there. It’s almost like having you own private beach for the afternoon. I’ve never seen more than 50-100 people there and that is a busy day and still doesn’t seem like much over the 3/4 mile stretch of beach. It is so peaceful because of this. The turquoise blue water will literally blow your mind. Not only is it 75-80 degrees, the waves themselves are also tiny and won’t smack you or your kids around like other beaches. By the time the typically large ocean waves meet up with the Coral Reef which extends miles from shore, the same waves are tiny or non-existent when they reach Turtle Beach. As a result of the Coral Reef, this is an ideal area for Scuba and Snorkeling. There are even countless options for professional diving tours in the Tulum area. The next time I’m back in this area, I will definitely be scuba diving.

My next trip can’t possibly come any quicker. The Yucatan region as a whole, is simply beautiful. Cancun and Playa del Carmen have so much to offer as well. Hotels in the Yucatan, including Playa del Carmen hotels and resorts can be a great option for anyone looking to be around the big party crowds. Yet, you may find you’ll get a more personalized and affordable experience with a Tulum hotel. I personally recommend Tulum Mexico as a vacation destination for anyone. With all the amazing things like beaches, great food, resorts, hotels, and even Mayan ruins, you may find out Tulum is exactly the get-away you’re looking for.

Pink Floyd: The Wall (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

$12.12

By any rational measure, Alan Parker’s cinematic interpretation of Pink Floyd: The Wall is a glorious failure. Glorious because its imagery is hypnotically striking, frequently resonant, and superbly photographed by the gifted cinematographer Peter Biziou. And a failure because the entire exercise is hopelessly dour, loyal to the bleak themes and psychological torment of Roger Waters’s great musi…
