do you think i could run a 38 fountain wide open with full tanks from miami to nassau bahamas and how much fuel will i need it has a 300 gallon fuel tank and am running tripple mercury 350 verados and 1.2 miles per gallon

It’s just about 200 miles from Miami to Nassau. You don’t say which model 38, but both the 38 LX and the 38 CC come stock with 3- 300 Verados, not 350s, so lets start with those specs.

WOT fuel consumption on both these boats is approx 90 GPH at 70 mph. Your trip will be about 3 – 3 1/2 hrs, so total fuel will be about 270 – 330 gallons in ideal water conditions. If you factor in that the 350 Verados will use about .25 more fuel than the 300s, this will leave you empty about 50 miles short of Nassau. Don’t worry though, Sea Tow International will come and get you for around $1500.
As to the other answerers who think that you can’t handle a Fountain at WOT, they have obviously never piloted one. Fountain make the safest and best handling sport boats in the world. My 95 year old gramma could single-hand a Fountain at WOT. As a former Fountain dealer, I have known Reggie and the crew at the N C factory for more than 20 years, and can safely say that no other manufacturer even comes close to Fountain Powerboats. Hopefully the recent financial revamping will keep them around for years to come.
