This title got me laughing from the start. It’s true isn’t it? Teenage years can get so interesting, how do we voyage through them? Not only teens , but parents too. This book is full of pointers. Fifteen psychologists, twelve secondary schools, four expulsions, four rehabs, two house-arrests and innumerable arguments… the cast and plot line for a seasons worth of Law and Order? No. This was the real life drama of Heather Stone’s adolescence. Now in college, Heather, the once rebellious teen, has sat down with her father to pen an insider’s guide for parents and teens alike.
Charles and Heather don’t offer Cleaver family ideals or promise Brady Bunch thirty-minute solutions. They, instead, share the realities of their 6-year nightmare- in the hopes of fostering hope for the millions of families trying to survive the years from thirteen to eighteen. Full of faith, honesty, and practicality, it offers readers nine practical lessons and provides a compass for even the worst tempests of teen rebellion. The realism in this book is really impecable. The way this book is written is truly appriciated by many and I know by me. The realism is comforting to know that I’m not alone in some of the funky stuff that goes along with growing up. I haven’t found any other helpful teen books out there that are this entertaining. I love the daughter and father duo getting together to write such a helpful book! From the stories from real life of his daughter going through a pretty rough time to how he as a father dealt with it all is pretty captivating as a story!
