Ground Dvd

I have a dvd player that is not new. the problem is it plays the back ground noise but not the people talking?

I have a dvd player that plays cd just fine. when I play movies I can hear back ground noise not the people talking. Please help

It sounds like the dvd player is set up for surround sound mode. I am assuming you have the dvd player hooked up to a stereo that only has two speakers. You have to set the dvd player to output in stereo mode instead of surround sound mode. Why? Because in surround sound mode, all the dialog (people talking) comes from the center channel speaker (which you don’t have). In stereo mode the talking gets routed to the two stereo speakers.
