Happen Dvd

How did this happen?? Haunted dvd player?
I was going to watch a movie yesterday, so I turned on my dvd player, and pressed open to see if there was already another disk in it. Then I pressed close to find the movie I wanted. Then the dvd player started playing the movie!! When there was no disk in it!! After I checked again, and there was still no disk in it.
So I how did this happen? Do dvd players have some kind of memory thing? I’m confused!!
Thanks.
Most players, CD, DVD or other types tend to buffer to prevent errors. By buffer I mean they read ahead at several times the normal playback speed and place it in buffered memory at a regular pace to rebuild erroneous playback or counter jolts. This is the method used to keep a portable CD player running correctly when you jog, for instance. It is borrowed somewhat from the principal of the FIFO buffers found in your computer hard drive system.
It is entirely possible that your player saves the information to continue the disc where you left off if you stopped play. Normally that data is lost when you eject but somebody may have been thinking about you needing to clean a disc and resume it, which is very thoughtful if true. Possibly the unit just didn’t get the cue to dump the memory and the result was that you got a “phantom play”. A sensor might be dirty or bad in the door mechanism, so make sure it clears before you play a new disc or you may have to unplug it and plug it back in to clear the memory and use it again. If it didn’t clear for some reason I’d think you would get an evil C 13 flashing at you (one of those error codes you don’t have a clue about but growl a lot at them).
Hey! It’s a neat Halloween gag though!
