Which movie version of Anna Karenina should I get?

I just finished reading the book and now I want to see the movie. I’m trying to choose between the 2001 version: http://video.barnesandnoble.com/DVD/Anna-Karenina/Helen-McCrory/e/783421331792/?itm=1

Or the 1978 version:

I don’t want the 1978 version just because it’s old so I feel like it won’t be as good as the 2001 version. But the 1978 version is 10 hours and the other one is only 4 so I feel like the 10 hour one would be better since it would probably actually cover the whole book. And also I don’t like the actor that plays Vronsky in the 2001 version because he’s in greys anatomy and I hate that show lol.

WHich should I get?! If you’ve seen the movies please tell me what you thought of both!
I don’t have enough money to get both because i’m saving up to buy doctor who on dvd.

The series from 78 has better reviews overall so it’s probably your best best. Both versions you posted are miniseries.

My fav film version is the 1997 one with Sophie Marceau she is brilliant in the role but it’s only a film not a miniseries so it is missing a lot but I think the cast really does a great job.
