The New High Voltage Gullwing Only Comes On The SLS AMG E CELL
We have often heard a ride in the SLS AMG described as electric – especially Goodwood Festival of Speed attendees lucky enough to experience the supercar attacking the hill climb – but with the unveiling of the SLS AMG E-CELL, we would love to hear what adjective those people might come up with now
There are simply mindblowing features on the new all electric SLS AMG E CELL. As well as the peak output of 329kW and torque of 220 Nm the SLS AMGs four electric motors also achieve 12000 per rpm. A big improvement with this model is where the motors have been located on the car which allows the E Class to have a low centre of gravity meaning it has ideal conditions for optimum handling and balanced weight distribution.
And as expected the SLS AMGs power is just as extravagent. Accelerating from zero to 100 km per hour in 4 seconds – which almost puts it on the same unbelievable level as the regular (if you could call it that) 6.3-litre V8 engine model, which can accelerate to 100 km per hour in 3.8 seconds
But surely its look is just as important. The wider radiator grille comes with transverse slats instead of a diamond-pattern grille, and all trim and detachable parts are now finished in matt black rather than chrome or silver. As electric sports cars have important battery information which needs to be monitored data including the estimated range and charge status can now be seen on a 25cm touchscreen which is located in the cockpit.
Even though it is still only a protype at the moment Mercedes have already made plans to form it as part of the AMG Performance 2015 Strategy which will help to lower fuel consumption and emissions. And lets face it the unique and customised lumilectic mango paint job is definitely worth the wait.
So it has all of a sudden become clear why the SLS AMG E CELL Mercedes Benz is so desirable and soon to be more than a prototype.
