Is it okay to leave labrador retrievers home alone during work?

My fiance and I are thinking of buying a dog, but before we do we want to make sure we are getting the right breed. We both work a 9-5 and are wondering if its ok to leave Goldren Retrievers alone at home for that long. I know some dogs tend to get depressed or destructive if they are left alone too long, so does anyone know if this is one of those breeds?

That all depends on the training of the dog, not the dog breed. A dog with separation anxiety would go crazy. A calm golden would be fine. Of course, an older dog would be best. You can’t leave a puppy alone for that long. I also suggest you look into crate training.
