I ran out of potatoes, can I use sweet potatoes for home fries?

the sweet potatoes were already baked in an oven wrapped in tin foil. Can I saute and season them like home fries or will it taste completely weird?

After they have been baked I don’t think they would fry very well. They will still taste good but the will be mushy as if they have been mashed sweet potatoes (which isn’t a bad thing).
