on the dvd movie “Jarhead”, the is a deleated scence whice is called “the rear” why is there a neighborhood?

The Rear, in Marine jargon, refers to the area where supporting elements work, live, sleep eat, etc…. Infantry Units refer to all other military jobs as “Pogues” or “REMs” (rear echelon M**her F***ers). Or sometimes they will ask where is Private Joe Schmo? He’s in the rear. Basically, if you aren’t a “Grunt”, then you are a Pogue. In the rear with the gear, etc, refers to any non-infantry personnel.
