John Travolta – The Best of Hollywood
John Travolta was born on 18th February 1954. He is not only an actor but also a singer and dancer. He rose to fame in the 70s after making a debut on a television series then known as Welcome Back, Kotter. Thereafter, he went forth and starred in two successive box office movies, i.e. Saturday Night Fever and Grease that were greatly received by the masses. In the 90s, John Travolta received a new lease of life in respect to his career when he was given a role in the movie Pulp fiction. There has been no looking back thereafter with successful movies such as Face Off, Ladder 49 and Wild Hogs. He has been nominated twice for the prestigious Academy Award as the Best Actor. He has won an award for the best actor in the Golden Globe Award in the movie get Shorty.
John Travolta Early Life
John Travolta is the youngest of six children and was born and brought up in a little town in New Jersey known as Englewood. His father was a professional footballer who later turned to tire sales and went to be a partner in a tire company. His mom who was also an actress and singer starred in a radio vocal group referred to as The Sunshine Sisters. Thereafter, she went to become a high school teacher and direct drama plays
Travolta early career life
After completing his high school life, John Travolta shifted from his childhood home town to New York where he managed to get a role in Grease as well as Broadway, where he sang the song Dream Drummin a song that has earlier been sang by the Sherman brothers. Having achieved successes in his earlier roles, Travolta decided to move to Los Angeles so as to further his career in showbiz.
He earned his first film role where he played the role of a fall victim in the series Emergency Season Two. That was way back in 1972. His major role was to come later on when he was given a role in the film Carrie when he played the role of a bully named Billy Nolan.
As a singer, John Travolta was a success when he released a hit single entitled Let Her In. It was number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 70s were a success for Travolta when he had one successful movie after the other, i.e. Saturday Night Fever and Grease.
