Can an X-box 1 play a DVD with purchasing a DVD playback Kit?

I know that the X-box can be modded and everything but I would like to know if there is anyway around having to waste money to watch a DVD on a machine that plays them
I messed up on my question. I want to know if I can play DVD’s without buying a DVD playback kit.

Well the XBOX was made to play dvds and video games and cds. the only thing it needs for it play dvds is a device that you could find at any brand name store like for example target and maybe Walmart. Ask the service guy or lady for a dvd plug in for an XBOX. it will cost about 20.00 dollars but if they charge anything more than that then it is a rip off. trust me on this if you want a look at it got to Google and type in Xbox 1 dvd emote control and got to the images part of it, it will give tons of pictures for it
