Why are the characters and story changed in the Magic Knight Rayearth ova?

Especially Clef. He looked like an adult. By the way, what’s his real name? The manga says Guru Clef but I hear Mage Clef in the anime. Do you think he’s cuter in the original?

Manga, anime, and OVA are three totally different things made by three totally different groups of people with three totally different ideas on the story. Normally, the manga and the OVA (if it was in manga form first) are closer together and the anime has drastic changes, but not always. And I’m guessing that’s what happened; the people making the OVA decided to change some things.

And I haven’t seen either version, so I can’t say…
