Background Facts About A Popular Television Program, Caprica
If you’re science fiction fanatic then you’ve undoubtedly heard of the TV show Caprica. Becoming a favorite of both males and females the shows fan base is growing quickly. Though there are clearly some who are not fans of the show those who do will tell you Caprica is one-of-a-kind.
A spinoff of already popular Battlestar Gallactica; Caprica is told 58 years prior to Battlestar Galacitica’s existence. Telling of how Cylons; a machine type robot created by humans plot to destroy the humans because they feel they were treated poorly. Though fans of Battlestar Galactica will notice some similarities between and Caprica unlike many spinoff series with this one, you can watch without necessarily having background from the program before it. During the show, you are introduced to two families the Graystone’s and the Adama’s a series of events unfold both families lives intertwine.
The series was created by Ronald Moore a screenwriter and producer with an impressive list of highly popular science-fiction series behind him. He and his production partner David Eick helped the show come to life in a two-hour pilot with the series to follow in January of 2010.
While cast members such as Eric Stoltz, Paula Malcolmson, Alessandra Torresani, Esai Morales, Sasha Adama, Magda Apanowicz and Polly Walker are regulars fans who watch the show on a regular basis will notice there are many reoccurring roles leaving you with many familiar faces on each episode.
Though American made, you might be interested to learn that it is actually filmed in various locations around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Many scenes are actually shots of real buildings found in Vancouver such as the popular Central City Shopping Center, Simon Fraser University and the city’s SkyTrain are just a few of many places around Vancouver that are used as backdrops throughout.
The show originates in America however its popularity has made its way to Canada along with the United Kingdom. With the second season already in the works it is quickly proving itself to be a worthy program despite the little amount of time or hope it was given before it hit the television for the first time in 2010.
As Caprica has grown in popularity so have the discussion groups and fan clubs on the internet, giving fans an outlet for spending hours discussing their favorite characters and the cast of actors and actresses that portray them. Sometimes fans enjoy the program so much in some areas you can find those who enjoy creating fan groups in person, who collectively go to British Columbia, and spend time checking out all the places the series was filmed.
