Sirhan Sirhan Doesn’t Recall Murdering Robert Kennedy
Sirhan Sirhan, the male who was convicted for the murder of Robert F. Kennedy, claims that he does not recall killing Kennedy. Sirhan, a Palestinian immigrant was wrestled to the ground brandishing a revolver which he had fired until it was empty. The lawyer representing Sirhan says that Sirhan was the target of an elaborate brainwashing plot which compelled him to kill Kennedy. Sirhan lawyer said brainwashing occurred
There can be a parole listening to soon for Sirhan Sirhan. His attorney plans on arguing, reports MSNBC that Sirhan only assassinated Robert F. Kennedy because of brainwashing that occurred. Sirhan was convicted of the 1968 murder of Kennedy, younger brother to President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General during the JFK administration. Just like “The Manchurian Candidate,” which is about a man that gets brainwashed so he will assassinate a politician, William F. Pepper, or Sirhan’s lawyer, says that his client had the very same brainwashing scheme occur. Pepper maintains that the conditioning Sirhan received resulted in Sirhan shooting Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in June of 1968.
Kennedy shooting not remembered
Sirhan said for a long time that he did not even recall Robert Kennedy getting shot. However, according to the Daily Mail, Sirhan said during his trial that he had committed the crime “with 20 years of malice aforethought,” and that he had committed the criminal offense “for my country,” referencing Kennedy’s support of Israel during the Six Days War of 1967. He was initially sentenced to death, but the Kennedy family opposed the use of the death penalty. Life in prison became his sentence after the Furman vs. GA Supreme Court case. The case made it so that, from 1972 to 1976, the death penalty was not legal in the nation.
Not doing much to get parole to go through
Sirhan Sirhan has not been very proactive in pursuing parole. He rarely attends hearings, mostly sending a lawyer, and he has declined to send counsel on several occasions. It has been impossible to prove innocence or get him released. Not showing up tends to do that to a person. Sirhan was wrestled to the ground by hotel staff and several Kennedy supporters, including journalist George Plimpton and Olympic athlete Rafer Johnson, while nevertheless firing his revolver.
