Why Sunglasses Are A Police Officer’s Best Friend

Quite often you will see the police wearing their police sunglasses but why on earth do they do this? People have come forward with suggestions and the main three are, protection of the eyes, looking cool and because they can? It looks to be all three of them.

Sunlight

Although you do not often see this happening the police still patrol the streets on foot quite a lot and wearing sunglasses has to be done on a summers day as the sun is right on their eyes for the duration of their shift. Sometimes it is actually reccommended that plice officers wear sunglasses on days like this so they can see and it can be more important for a police cyclist. They are exposed in the sun even more than the people that are not on the bikes so it helps them see the road.

Expressions- I don’t think so

Many police officers will wear sunglasses when giving an interview to hide any expressions they may be having. There are criminals out there that can play off people’s expressions. Sometimes it is is very useful for the cops to wear reflective sunglasses as the criminal can only see their own faces.

Bad Ass

Most people would sooner listen to a cop in sunglasses than they would without them, it just looks like they shouldnt be messed with. Think way back to Terminator 2, remember when the cop took off his sunglasses, how bad did that look!

If you don’t believe me then it is well worth checking out some of the films with those awesome police glasses in and get yourself a pair of d&g designer sunglasses.

So although some of the time the police are wearing these glasses because they have to protect themselves from the sun, there are many occasions in which they love wearing them to look like a bad ass. Wouldnt we love to do it too.
