Why did the radio in my 04 Quest stop working, now 6 months later work again?

The dealer said the head unit was blown
(controls stereo, DVD etc). That was 6 mos ago. They wanted $1400 to fix it. Didnt do it, couldn’t afford it. Disconnected the batt. the other day to clean the terminals. Radio worked for a second. Had to jump start the car two days ago, now the radio etc. is working. WTF!
