road trip along the pacific coast highway?

we are planing to go on a road trip along the pacific coast highway from los angeles to san francisco. we are driving our 26ft. RV trailer. I would like information on any rest sites that we can park at overnight. Also, if there are any campsites i can stay at without making a reservation.
