What are some good summer road trip ideas?

My friend and I are hoping to take a summer road trip (or just a trip in general) after graduation. We need ideas of some exciting, fun, and interesting places. Maybe even a little relaxing. We need to stay in the US and not get too expensive. Please help!

I like to suggest the ‘Pacific Coast Highway’ as my favorite route.

But you should also try to plan or create top list for routes in the U.S. before you go.
