What happens if a time zone boundary runs through a city?

This is probably a really odd question, but if the boundary for a different time zone runs through a city, town or whatever, what would happen? Wouldn’t it be odd if your neighbors were like an hour ahead of you? Is there any other situations were the time zone boundaries cause weird situations?

Nothing in particular. For eg. the time zone line runs throgh Greenwich in London. There will be no such VAST time difference between nearby areas.
