Screen Laserdisc

Why would some want a blu-ray dvd player? ?

Ok, the resolution is better. I’ll give you that. But the cons far outweigh that benefit.
First it’s made by Sony. Sony is notorious for its proprietary software that makes life hell for consumers.
Second, you can get a dvd player with upscale conversion for $60.00 which plays all dvd’s and is looks pretty good. Not as good as blu-ray. But pretty close.
Third. The dvd’s are more money.
Fourth, you only have a fraction of the dvd’s available.
Fifth, very slow startup time.
Sixth, just like the laserdisc it will soon be phased out by hd downloads.
Seventh, no auto backwards compatibility with standard dvd’s. You have to go to a screen that makes you choose between dvd and blu-ray.
So why?

Why…because your standard DVD’s up-scaled to 720p will look like crap on my 65″ LCD.

Looking pretty good is no where near looking like 1080p!

All studio’s are converting to Blu-Ray since HD-DVD lost the format war. Soon there will be three rows of Blu-Ray movies to choose from at your local Best Buy. Right now you already have a row and a half dedicated to Blu-Ray.

You don’t have to choose between DVD and Blu-Ray it is automatic.
