why does crosby have only 3 power play goals this season?

3…!??? his power play goal numbers have just dropped since his rookie season. 16 to 13 to 6(injured that season) then only 3 this season thus far.

If you’re from Pittsburgh, then you know that part of the problem is the team has historically (since the arrival of Mario Lemieux) tried to set up the perfect shot on the power play. Too much pretty passing. Sometimes they just need to let it rip and crash the net for deflections and/or rebounds. Sid, as his predecessors; Lemieux, Jagr, Francis (and sometimes even Malkin) look to pass before shooting. Although Mario certainly wasn’t as shy about shooting. He did both great, as attributed to his 690 goals and 1033 assists. 1723 total points. Second highest points per game average in history behind Wayne Gretzky, albeit in limited action due to multiple injuries and a bout with Hodgkin’s disease. Also, Crosby isn’t a sniper like Lemieux or Ovechkin. But in a nutshell –as us Pittsburghers already know– Hey Sid, shoot the puck!
