Seuss Horton

About the recent Dr. Seuss movie about Horton and the Whos…?
Is it just me, or does any one else think there is a deeper veiled message/comparison pertaining to religion and atheism?
I wasn’t looking for any hidden meaning when I watched it. It just seems very apparent and obvious.
E.g.:
The kangaroo seems a lot like repressive dictators who outlaw religion in some communist countries.
The statement Horton makes after crossing the bridge about being so happy with his new sense of purpose in life is very reminiscent of similar statements new beleivers make.
The ridicule that the mayor faced for warning of danger of hu-ville being destroyed is reminiscent of how people preaching that we are living in the last days, and, that the end is near, are ridiculed.
Like many faithfull Christians, Horton would rather be imprisoned than renounce his ‘faith’ in the existence of the microscopic whos.
.
Dr. Seuss always had an underlying message to his stories.
Did you know that Yertle the Turtle was patterned after Hitler?
EDIT: Seuss was a political cartoonist before he wrote children’s books.
“Horton Hears a Who” is a parable about post-war relations between the United States, Japan and the Soviet Union. “Yertle the Turtle” pokes fun at those who want to rule the world.

Dr. Seuss Horton Hatches the Egg/If I Ran the Circus [VHS] $7.98 Billy Crystal has fun with this beloved tale of Horton the empathetic elephant who sees a need–in this case an egg that needs some sitting on–and does whatever it takes to fill it. He gives Horton’s voice an earnest goofball quality and errant mother bird Mayzie a loopy Southern belle accent. While Horton may be the embodiment of the Golden Rule, Morris McGurkus of If I Ran the Circus, the secon… |
