Why is it easier to sing along to someone else singing?

Why is it easier to sing along when listening to a song but when its just your voice its so much harder?

With someone else singing you are following a musical blueprint. Their voice leads you and you follow along, not knowing exactly what notes you’re hitting. Singing without listening to the music is harder because you don’t know exactly what notes to hit, the only way you knew how to hit the notes previously is from following the song. So without the music it’s going to be harder to sing it until you learn how to form the notes.
Well that’s just my view on it, I’m no teacher. Hope that made sense.
