Stokers Dracula
HELP! Bram Stokers Dracula-are versions different length because parts are cut out?
I wanted to find Dracula by Bram Stoker, so went on www.waterstones.com. I got on there, and several different copies of the book were listed, but all with different page numbers. Is it exactly the same story, or have bits been edited and cut out? I want one with the most of the origional story in it:/
Each book will have a different page count because each publisher will use different size fonts is all. This means more or fewer lines per page, more or fewer pages per book! ;>)
What you want to avoid is an “abridged” version. That will have stuff cut out.
Most will mention “complete and unabridged”.
The book is in the public domain, so it is legal for you to read it for free on the Gutenberg Project or download a virus free legal copy to your ‘puter:

There is a short story called “Dracula’s Guest” which was a chapter that was removed from the original novel back when it was first published. The editor took it out because the novel was pretty long and the story didn’t add to the main plot. If you want a truly complete Dracula, see if you can find a book that includes that story as an “extra!”
