Amazon Prime Takes On Netflix With Streaming Movie Membership
In accordance with Amazon.com, the Amazon Prime free shipping program has been supercharged for the internet streaming movie age, reports CNET. For $ 79 per year, not only will Amazon Prime consumers get 2-day shipping at no additional cost, but they’ll have access to limitless streaming video of movies and television, much like Netflix. The 5,000-plus title opening catalog of films and television shows can stream to any broadband-connected computer or TV. And to help obtain the upper hand against Netflix or Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime will cost streaming movie supporters nearly $ 20 less per year.
War between Netflix and Hulu interrupted by Amazon Prime
The audience for streaming movie ventures of 65 million, plus the capital needed to get it started, are both things that Amazon Prime is looking for, reports CNET. That is why it’s entering the business, Dana Rayburn of Frost & Sullivan described. Adding such value to an already popular free shipping program at no additional cost was a no-brainer, said Amazon Prime V.P. Robbie Schwietzer.
“Millions of Amazon Prime members already enjoy the convenience of free two-day shipping,” said Schwietzer. “Adding unlimited instant access to thousands of movies and TV shows at no additional cost is a great way to give members even more value.”
There could be lots of competition that Amazon Prime will face in the online streaming movie sector. This is because Netflix, Hulu Plus and Apple TV have already taken over. Amazon.com is a giant of its own when it comes to buying books, movies, music and more, plus its annual subscription fee beats Netflix and Hulu Plus. Hulu Plus demands that viewers watch advertisements during the videos, reports New York Magazine. Amazon Prime will not have this requirement. It should not be hard to get the rights to stream videos for Amazon.com since a relationship with Hollywood studios for distributing DVDs is already there.
Netflix has a head-start in catalog size
Netflix has over 20,000 movies and TV shows for streaming right now which Amazon Prime will not have at the very beginning. On Amazon Prime, movies like “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Syriana” as well as shows like “Farscape” and “Doctor Who” are already available. Nevertheless, if the business is going to compete, it has to grow easily. The issue that Netflix had with broadband provider giants like Comcast will probably be there for Amazon as well.
