How should one treat the nouveau riche?
My wife, the Lady Priscilla, her heart always full of charity, is holding a banquet in the honor of some new friends, Mr & Mrs William Tate. Mr Tate is American and has made his fortune in some sort of roboticised waffle iron or other technological nonsense, I forget.
The question I present is, is it proper to be seen cavorting with such company? Money is not everything and breeding does count. Anyone can be rich. Dear Prissy, bless her Dear Christian Heart, says I am in the wrong.
Who is right?
With the utter contempt they deserve, they may have money but they still belong in the gutter.
